City allots 10 slots for Barangay Daliao College scholars

The City Government of Davao, through the Support for Tertiary Education Program (STEP), has alloted 10 college scholarships slots to Barangay Daliao. Punong Barangay Rodolfo Te wrote City Mayor Sara Duterte to help the ten scholars selected by Barangay Daliao. The scholars are enrolled at Davao Central College. They went through a selection process, including competitive exams. The Commission on Audit advised the Barangay to ask the City Government for assistance. It can be recalled that this Barangay College Scholarship program, the only one of its kind for any barangay, was initiated by the Barangay last June 2011. Kagawad Ryan Maboloc, Committee on Education chair, is happy with the development since he sees it as a game-changer in fighting poverty among the people. Treas. Bong Dumugho is assisting the scholars in processing the documents.

Adopt a Day Care to be implemented in Daliao

The Committee on Education of Barangay Daliao will implement the Adopt a Day Care Program next year. The program, according to Kgd. Ryan Maboloc, aims to provide Day Care centers with the resources necessary for the delivery of early childhood care and development. For 2011, the pilot projects include the improvement of the Lipadas Day Care and the Pantalan Day Care. Four Day Care centers also were repainted. The target next year is to provide new chairs and audio-visual equipment to some 600 children who are enrolled.

75T alloted for Tech-Voc Training

The Barangay Council has allocated an amount of 75T for the Technical Vocational Training in Barangay Daliao. A big part of the budget will be for the welding and consumer electronics courses. An amount is also allocated for the purchase of a welding machine. "Engr. Bong Dumugho is instrumental for the realization of the said program", says Kgd. Ryan Maboloc, Committee on Education Chair. The third batch of training will commence in January of 2012. So far, 84 students have availed of the program designed to equip barangay constituents will the competencies necessary for jobs here and abroad.

42 students to graduate from TESDA Training

Forty two students will graduate from the second batch of the Technical Vocational Training Program sponsored by Barangay Daliao, in coordination with the Technical Education Skills and Development Authority. According to Kgd. Ryan Maboloc, Committee Chair, twenty will come from Ornamental Metal Arc Welding while twenty two will come from Consumer Electronics. The training, supervised by Engr. Bong Dumugho, is free of charge for Barangay Daliao constituents. The tentative graduation day is set on Dec. 10, 2011. The third batch will commence early next year.
